Cannabis Sugar

How to Make CannaSugar by Chef420

You've heard of cannabutter… maybe even canna oil…
But have you met their sweeter cousin? ........

CannaSugar is one of the easiest and most versatile infused ingredients you can make. Stir it into coffee, sprinkle it over toast, bake it into cookies, or just keep it around for when life needs a little extra… sweetness.

It's discreet, shelf-stable, and dangerously easy to use — which means yes, you can accidentally turn your morning tea into a full afternoon experience.

Choose wisely.

Ingredients: Makes: 1 cup

  • 3 grams dried cannabis
  • 1 cup grain alcohol (PGA)
  • 1 cup sugar

Equipment:

  • Glass jar
  • Small strainer
  • Cheesecloth or coffee filter
  • Glass baking dish

Step 1: Decarboxylation

Before anything magical happens, your cannabis needs to be activated.

This process is called decarboxylation — basically waking up the THC so it can do its thing.

Step 2: Infusion Prep

  1. Place your cannabis in a glass jar.
  2. Pour in enough grain alcohol to fully cover the cannabis.
  3. Seal the jar and let it sit for about 3 hours.
  4. Gently shake or turn the jar every 30 minutes.

This pulls the cannabinoids out into the alcohol — think of it as making a quick tincture.

Step 3: Make the CannaSugar

  1. Preheat oven to 200°F (93°C).
  2. Strain the cannabis/alcohol mixture through cheesecloth or a coffee filter into a glass baking dish.
  3. Add your sugar to the liquid and stir well.
  4. Place in the oven and let the alcohol slowly evaporate, stirring occasionally.
  5. Once fully evaporated, remove from oven and let cool.
  6. Break up any clumps and store in an airtight container.

Pro Tips:

  • Go slow on evaporation — rushing this step can reduce potency and flavor.
  • If clumps form, toss the sugar in a sealed bag and gently tap it with a spoon (or "Chef420 smash technique").
  • This method works with cane sugar, brown sugar, or coconut sugar too.

🚫 Avoid powdered sweeteners or Splenda — they don't absorb the infusion properly.

Dosage Matters (Seriously)

CannaSugar is sneaky — it looks innocent but can hit hard.

If you don't know your potency, you're basically playing edible roulette.

*Start low. Wait 2–4 hours. Then decide if you want more.*

  • Stir into coffee or tea
  • Sprinkle on oatmeal or fruit
  • Bake into cookies, cakes, or muffins
  • Mix with regular sugar to control potency

Chef tip: blending infused + non-infused sugar is one of the easiest ways to dial things in perfectly.

Chef's Note:

CannaSugar is one of those "once you make it, you'll always have it" ingredients.
Simple, effective, and just a little bit mischievous — exactly how we like it.

The Sweet Fine Print
